Side event: EARN / WAI International Seminar Europe-Africa: a changing relationship?
Date & Venue:
14-15 October, Praia, Cape Verde.
The EARN/WAI International Seminar "Europe-Africa: a changing relationship?", a two-day event organized by Europe Africa Research Network (EARN) and the West Africa Institute (WAI), aims to contribute to the policy-making debate and the political dialogue between Africa and Europe. A public seminar will be held in the first day with a particular focus on the perspectives for the 3rd Africa-EU Summit and on the role of ECOWAS and Cape Verde. A EARN meeting will take place afterwards among its members and invited participants from Africa and Europe in order to discuss and comment the documents for the EARN Political Dialogue Report, to be published prior to the Summit.
EARN is a network of African and European Policy Research Institutes, aiming to contribute to the EU-Africa Policy Dialogue. It has been promoting reflections and contributions to the strategic partnership between the two continents. The West Africa Institute is a research centre recently created in Cape Verde with view to support the debate between researchers, governments and civil society with a focus in West Africa. This seminar will contribute to the debate on the Euro-African relations ahead of the 3rd Africa-EU Summit.
The event brings together participants from European and African research centres, academia, civil society organisations, the European Commission and the African Union Commission.
