Date & Venue:
27 November, Tripoli.
A joint meeting ahead of the EU-Africa Summit should take place in Tripoli in order for parliamentarians to launch a political debate on certain crucial issues and shape the upcoming debate of Heads of State and Government. During this event, the parliamentarians should address issues such as peace and security, the Millennium Development Goals, food security, human rights and good governance. They will present recommendations to Head of States and Governments during the Summit.
The Pan-African Parliament and the European Parliament represent the population from both continents. The Joint Africa-EU Strategy (JAES) embraces a people-centred approach and parliaments, with their democratic legitimacy, have a crucial role to play in the Partnership.
