Africa - EU strategic partnership


The 2007 Joint Africa-EU Strategy defines the long-term policy orientations between the two continents, based on a shared vision and common principles:

4. respect for human rights, democratic principles and the rule of law12. common and human security

8. co-management of and co-responsibility for global issues

The four main objectives are:

The Strategy's First Action Plan outlines 8 areas for strategic partnership for 2008-10:

  3. Trade, regional integration and infrastructure
  4. Millennium development goals
  5. Energy
  6. Climate change
  7. Migration, mobility and employment
  8. Science, information society and space.
