Publish date:

The final meeting of the PanAfGeo project took place from 24-25 October 2019 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. At the two-day event, a wide range of professionals and leaders from Africa and Europe took stock of the achieved results, exchanged views on best practices and lessons learnt and discussed the potential follow-up of the project. Tanzanian Minister for Minerals, Hon. Dotto Biteko, highlighted the enormous importance of the PanAfGeo project and expressed interest in maintaining a strong partnership between the Organisation of African Geological Surveys and the EuroGeoSurveys.

“PanAfGeo” (Pan-African Support to the EuroGeoSurveys-Organisation of African Geological Surveys (EGS-OAGS) Partnership) is a project co-funded by the European Union and a Consortium of 12 European Geological Surveys led by the French Geological Survey (BRGM). It aims at supporting the training of geoscientific staff from African Geological Surveys through the development of more than ten training curricula. Between 2017 and 2019, the programme provided 42 training sessions for more than 1000 geologists from 45 African countries.
