The seventh College-to-College meeting between the European Commission and the African Union Commission took place on 22 April 2015.
The meeting provided political and operational impetus to Africa-EU relations within the context of the Joint Africa-EU Strategy. The current Road Map covers five areas discussed during the meeting:
- Peace and Security;
- Democracy, good governance and human rights;
- Human development;
- Sustainable and inclusive development, and growth and continental integration;
- Global and emerging issues.
The Colleges considered these topics during a plenary session, co-chaired by President Juncker and Chairperson Dlamini-Zuma, and four parallel sessions. During the closing session, a Joint Declaration was adopted within the respective competences of the two Commissions. The meeting was held in a good atmosphere and the discussions were constructive, open and frank - against the backdrop of the events earlier this week in the Mediterranean and overall EU-Africa cooperation on how best to address the joint challenges in this regard.
