The fifth Programme for Infrastructure Development in Africa (PIDA) Week took place in Cairo, Egypt, from 25-29 November.
Under this year’s theme “Positioning Africa to deliver on Agenda 2063 and economic integration through multi-sectoral approaches to infrastructure development”, the focus lied on infrastructure in the context of the water-energy-food nexus, job creation and industrialisation.
The week brought together key players in the infrastructure sector. They agreed that greater economic activity, efficiency and competitiveness on the continent were hampered by inadequate transport, communication, water and power infrastructure. To spur economic growth, they called in particular for enhanced partnerships between the public and private sector.
